Kemal K appears as a savior...meanwhile CHP members question who is who the day after. [1]Mavi Boncuk |
[1] It is unclear whether four individuals named to the Party Council of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in vote at a party congress last weekend fit an essential nomination requirement laid down by CHP bylaws: membership in the party.
According to a report in yesterday’s edition of the Taraf daily, even top CHP executives are unsure as to how Süheyl Batum, Nihat Matkap, Sencer Ayata and Enver Aysever, in addition to others, suddenly became members of the CHP’s top administration. CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) member Algan Hacaloğlu told Taraf that he does “not know” the four abovementioned names. Another MYK member speaking on condition of anonymity said, “There’s a huge scandal under way with regard to the membership [of those names].”
CHP delegates voted on a bloc list of nominees during the weekend’s congress, which means they cast their votes on the list as a whole without the ability to make any changes or suggestions. Reminded that there had been some statements made by CHP members to the effect that the four had their memberships approved by the MYK, Hacaloğlu repeated, “I’m saying again, I don’t know these names,” noting that the MYK last convened on May 12.
