Family of Osman Hamdi Bey

Osman Hamdi Bey was the eldest son of Grand Vizier (Ottoman Prime Minister) İbrahim Edhem Paşa [1], who was a valuable technical and political personality educated in both Ottoman and Western cultures. Osman Hamdi was born in Istanbul in 1842 and educated there. He attracted attention with his paintings when he was sixteen. He traveled to Vienna with his father and studied the museums there. In 1860, he was sent to Paris to study law. He also had the opportunity to work at the workshops of the great masters of the Paris Fine Arts Academy and had a good education in painting.

Among them some like "Women with Mimosas", "Girl with a Pink Hat", "Girl with Slanting Eyes" stand out in view of Art History their pictorial quality .
[1] İbrahim Edhem Pasha a former Grand Vizier who was a Greek boy from the island of Chios orphaned at a very young age [2] following the 1821 Greek uprising there. He was adopted by Kaptan-I Derya (admiral) Husrev Pasha and eventually rising to the ranks of the ruling class of the Ottoman Empire.
