Desperate to help her son, Rabiye Kurnaz, a housewife and loving mother from Bremen, goes to the police, notifies authorities and almost despairs at their impotence and in the end, against all the odds, something truly remarkable happens.
Murat is being held in the US Guantanamo detention center. His mother Rabiye informs the police and almost despairs of her fainting until she finds Bernhard Docke. The reserved, level-headed human rights lawyer and the spirited Turkish mother are now fighting side by side for Murat's release. Paper is patient, Rabiye is not. She moves with Bernhard to the Supreme Court in Washington to sue George W. Bush. In the end, what nobody thinks possible happens... An outstanding feature film about the great shame of the USA, the largest western democracy.
