[1] Founded in 1871, "Art Print institution Römmler & Jonas" was a publishing house in Dresden, which was known by its affiliated light and book-printing in particular by its architectural photographs. The company was specialized in the production of cityscapes that it systematically photographed in every major city of its own operators left and then mostly sales in the cabinet format on paper, printing books and art activities. In addition, sequentially numbered postcards were issued with photocopies of European cities such as Ljubljana  or so-called artist postcards such as that of the painter Carl Wuttke with motifs from Egypt.

Emil Römmler, son of a photographer in Chemnitz had 1861 registered in Dresden his own photographic studio. After he heard about the Albertype, the application of a new method for copying photographs, he developed a new business idea. Even before the founding of the German Empire itself Römmler informed it intensively on the new technology and then formed in Munich, directly at the "inventor" of Albertype, Joseph Albert, practically continued. Back in Dresden, Emil Römmler first examined for financial support and found them soon in the accountant Leopold Erasmus Jonas. In addition to pre-existing Römmlers studio rented the two together into new premises, initially in the Pillnitzer Straße 54 in the district Pirnaische suburbs, and founded in 1871, the "Art Print institution Römmler & Jonas".
