In Memoriam | Memduh Ün (1920-2015)

 An era of name directors ends with the passing of Memduh Ün. Erksan, A. Yilmaz, Akad, Seden and Refig are no more. 

Turkish film director, producer and actor Memduh Ün has died at 95 in the southeastern province of Mugla on Friday, said hospital officials.

Ün had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit in the Bodrum district of Mugla due to a pleural effusion, hypertension and age-related health problems since January, according to hospital sources.

Memduh Ün (14 March 1920 – 16 October 2015) was a Turkish film producer, director, actor and screenwriter. 

He was a member of the Besiktas football team squad between 1940-41. He started working in cinema in 1947. 

He directed some 70 movies and was involved in nearly 100 productions, according to the Internet Movie Database IMDB.

Three Friends (1958),The Broken Pots[1](1960), Great Oath (1969), All doors were closed (1990) and Cinema is a miracle (2005) are among the standout films he directed.
