Europe wobbles over Egypt by Gavin Hewitt | Thursday, 3 February 2011
International crises often tell you a lot about power and influence; which countries and which leaders are players and which are not. Not surprisingly in the case of Egypt, President Obama gets to make the 30 minute phone calls to President Mubarak. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey increasingly is a man of influence. Europe's big three - Cameron, Merkel and Sarkozy - command attention. The EU - as an institution - matters less.
That's realpolitik.
