Do not forget me – Istanbul

Mavi Boncuk | A group of international filmmakers is to create several short films as part of a project dedicated to Istanbul as a 2010 European Capital of Culture.

The project, titled “Do not forget me – Istanbul,” will contain six 15-minute short films by internationally renowned directors and producers, Turkish media reported today. Shooting is to be completed by the end of October. One short will be directed by Bosnia’s Aida Begic, who has received several significant film awards, including the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics Week Grand Prize for her feature “Snow” (2008). The other prominent filmmakers who are to participate in the project are: Stefan Arsenijevic from Serbia, Stergios Niziris from Greece, Omar Shargawi from Denmark, Hany Abu-Assad from Palestine and Eric Nazarian from the US. The project’s script advisor will be Greek director Theodoros Angelopoulos' screenwriter, Petros Markaris.

Istanbul, along with Essen in Germany and Peç in Hungary, was selected by the European Union as the European Capital of Culture for 2010, during which it – on the one hand, showcases its cultural life and development and on the other, reflects, enhances and contributes to European culture. Source
