Turkey launches EURO 2016 bid logo

Mavi Boncuk |

Turkish Football Federation announced the logo for the bid of Euro 2016 candidacy with a ceremony at Swissotel in İstanbul. Sports Minister Faruk Nafız Özak, TFF President Mahmut Özgener and TFF Honorary President Şenes Erzik attended the event organized by the Euro 2016 bidding team.

Turkish bid team project leader Orhan Gorbon announced the logo of the bid along with U15 National Team Player Gökhan Sürücü. The new logo is significant because it communicates Turkish tradition of football, emotion and hospitality, all aspects of modern day Turkish culture. The shapes of the ribbons on the football are directly derived from the tulip, a flower that thrives in Turkey and is a primary element in Turkish art.
