1939 Turkish Stamp and an Error

Turkish postal stamps issued on July 15, 1939. As founding fathers Ataturk was matched with George Washington and Turkish president Inonu with Roosevelt. The fine print points to the commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the United States of America's Independence [1]. However it is a mistake since the true anniversary (1937) was for the American Constitution [2]. The map used on the stamp shows no distinction for Canada and Mexico. The First Day Cover includes the third design in the series. Flags topped with a star.

[1] The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire.

[2] The members of the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Constitutional Convention convened in response to dissatisfaction with the Articles of Confederation and the need for a strong centralized government.
