Last night with a lot of festivities, Istanbul was launched as one of the European Capital of Culture for 2010 with Essen,Germany and Pécs, Hungary. So I can pass judgment on certain things. Take look at these posters. They are all awful. Maybe the fortune telling one seems cute. The joke is totally lost on English speakers. What caused me to start this rant. Well, take a look at the fireworks picture and tell me if you do not shudder when you see the spacing used for 2010. Maybe it is an attempt to compensate for the crashing numbers of the official poster. And what is this meaningless peeling continents or the slogan "Head this Rhytym"?

Sorry, I don't think they are bad. Where could I get some of them?
ReplyDeleteThe issue is not that individually they were good or not. There is no common look a campaign deserves. All istanbul texts are different. messages are garbled and meaningless. Or has low visible impact or too detailed to be useless as a banner or poster. Plus a plethora of birds after birds and silly butterflies on top. To me this is still a disaster.
