Turkish President Abdullah Gul’s appointed Prof. Dr. Mustafa İsen as the new board member of the Higher Education Council (YOK), which oversees university education in Turkey. Mavi Boncuk | Prof. Dr. Mustafa İSEN was born in Adapazarı in 1953. He finished the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Ataturk University. After he worked as a director in the Institute of Social Sciences of the International Ahmet Yesevi Turkish-Kazakh University and as a department chair in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Gazi University, he became the dean of the Faculty of Literature and Science of the Gazi University. In 2000 he was appointed to Başkent University, and he established the Turkish Language and Literature Department there. In 2003 he was inducted to the Undersecretariat of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Ahmet Yesevi Turkish-Kazakh University since 2003. Up until his recent appointment he was General Secretary of the Presidency of The Republic of Turkey since 2007.
