She's Gotta do it...or does She?
She's Gotta do it...or does She? If Merkel had a choice she would approve nakedness more than the Bruno Banani billboard ad. No politician likes to air dirty underwear 'Kirli Çamaşır" in public. We can not imagine the ad or the art in Canada, US or Turkey. Not for lack of imagination I guess. Other controversial ads are out there too. An ice cream advert which shows a glamorous nun about to kiss a priest is being investigated by the Italian advertising watchdog. The Italian clothes maker Benetton had an earlier fame with an autumn 1991 campaign picturing a not-so-platonic kiss between a priest and a nun clad in old-fashioned habits. Both ads can be Googled as part of your homework assignment. This is the kind of freedom Turkey can enjoy as part of EU if public tolerance can be increased to this level.

German ad featuring Angela Merkel with a mock-up image for the body of course. It's an ad by the underwear company Bruno Banani. The accompanying caption reads "we are giving everything to increase demand." The ad shows a mock-up of the German Chancellor wearing only a mauve bra and pantie set. Behind her are other German politicians posing in boxers. The son of Turkish immigrants, the German Green Party co-chair Cem Ozdemir is on the far right. No pun intended of course.
The German town of Bodman-Ludwigshafen goes beyond that with a controversial tryptich at the center of town - a work by the German sculpture, Peter Lenk. The sculpture is called "group-sex relief" and features prominent politicians and corporate players in various states of undress and completely nude. One panel stars German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder laughing and grabbing each others private parts.
