In Memoriam | Volkan Konak (1967– 2025)


Turkish singer Volkan Konak passed away at 58 on Sunday night. 

In the late evening of 30 March 2025, Konak suffered a medical emergency and collapsed while on stage; he died shortly afterwards, early the next day.

He was born in 1967 in Maçka district of Trabzon. After completing his primary, secondary and high school education in Maçka, he entered the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory between 1983-1984. In 1987, he exhibited the compilations he made in the region with his album Suların Horon Yeri. He graduated from the Conservatory in 1988 and started his Social Sciences Master's Degree at Istanbul Technical University the same year. Volkan Konak made his first album Efulim in 1991-1992. In October 1994, he prepared his album Gelir misin Benimle. He then immediately presented his third album Volkanik Parçalar and in April 1998, his album Pedaliza to music lovers.

Volkan Konak, who joined DMC in 2000, released his album Şimal Rüzgarı and delivered it to his listeners. Maranda, which was released under the DMC label in 2003, presented the albums Mora in 2006, Mimoza in 2009, Lifor in 2012 and Manolya in 2015 to her fans.

Volkan Konak (27 February 1967 – 31 March 2025) was a Turkish folk singer. His song "Cerrahpaşa" was a great success and his album, Mora, released in 2006, was awarded a gold plaque by the Turkish recording producers association, MÜ-YAP.
