BAB-I ALI STREET

The street that starts from Eminönü and intersects with Divanyolu Street from the north gate of the Istanbul Governor's Office building, following the Iranian Consulate, is Babıali Street. It has witnessed many important political and cultural events during the Ottoman and Republic periods. The Meserret Hotel, where the 'Babyali Raid' took place, is also on this street. The old name of the street is Mahmudiye Street.

In addition, until recently, the headquarters of almost all newspapers were on or around this street.

Fatih Kerimi, one of the Tatar intellectuals, describes the changes in Babıali Street in the 1900s as follows: "Istanbul has changed a lot compared to what I saw before. There are pavements on both sides of Babıali Street. The stones laid on the street are more suitable for walking.

Lighthouses are lined up on both sides of the street. Noisy cars come and go. Some of the streets have widened a little, and large buildings have increased." The houses of Cemalettin Efendi and Gazi Ahmet Muhtar Pasha are also on Babıali Street. Some other points on the street are;

The shop of Osman Zeki, who studied tailoring in Paris, the office of Doctor Bahri İsmet Efendi and the 'Hamiyet-i Mücesseme Kuaförü' owned by an Armenian
