A ceremony was held today at Torun Center for director, screenwriter and producer Tomris Giritlioğlu, who signed important productions such as "Salkım Hanım'ın Taneleri" and "Güz Sancısı" and passed away yesterday (September 23).
Speaking at the ceremony, Giritlioğlu's son Ilgaz Giritlioğlu stated that he learned a lot from his mother and said, "My greatest love, my eternal flirt... Being Tomris' son is both very difficult and very easy. A tough life, a breathtaking life full of sleepless editing rooms, lots of cigarettes, numerous screenwriters, costumes, beautiful actors and cameras."
Ilgaz Giritlioğlu emphasized that his mother focused on the spirit of her work rather than worrying about ratings and income and added the following:
"She showed us that a project has a spirit and how important a responsibility it is to meet with the Turkish society, that is, the audience. She carried this responsibility on her shoulders with great courage. She also introduced the concept of 'project design'. She paid attention to the details during the preliminary preparation phase; "He taught us how to work with colors, characters and all the details when creating an atmosphere."
After the ceremony, Giritlioğlu's body will be sent to her hometown of Antakya for burial after the funeral prayer at Teşvikiye Mosque after the afternoon prayer.

Director, screenwriter and producer Tomris Giritlioğlu, who had been receiving cancer treatment for a while, passed away at the age of 67.
Giritlioğlu was born in the Kadınhanı district of Konya. She was the child of a family from Hatay. Her father was Ali Arcak, who was a judge in Kadınhanı at the time, and her mother was Sakine Arcak (Günaydın).
In fact, her father, Ali Arcak, was the head of the 5th Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals between 1980 and 1988.
She graduated from Ted Ankara College. and Hacettepe University, Department of English Language and Literature.
She decided to become a director while she was still a student. After university, she started working at TRT, where she shot children's programs, documentaries, and worked in the drama department until her retirement.
Her directing career began with the film 'From Kanto to Tango' in 1989. She was awarded the best director and jury special award at the 11th Istanbul Film Festival with her first feature film 'Suyun Öte Yanı'.
'80th Step', which she shot in 1995, was followed by 'Salkım Hanım'ın Taneleri' in 1999. Giritlioğlu gained fame with this film and received the best film award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
The director has been involved in various series projects as a producer and project designer since the early 2000s.
Some of the series that bear the signature of Giritlioğlu, who is known for her period works, are 'Sultan Makamı', 'Çemberimde Gül Oya', 'Hatırla Sevgili', 'Bu Kalp Seni Unutur Mu?', 'Asi', 'Kırık Kanatlar' and 'Seher Vakti'.
