In Memoriam | Latif Demirci, (1961- 2022)


Cartoon artist Latif Demirci passed away at the age of 61. It was stated that Demirci, who had undergone heart surgery a short time ago, fell at home yesterday and died in the hospital where he was taken.

Latif Demirci, who died at the age of 61, has no known serious illness. Latif Demirci, who died as a result of a fall, was born in Istanbul. Latif Demirci's ex-wife, who married once, is Latife Demir, and he also has a daughter. His love with the singer Nilüfer was talked about for a while.

Latif Demirci recently underwent heart surgery. Demirci, who fell in his house yesterday morning, was taken under treatment, but this morning, despite all the interventions, he could not be saved.



Demirci's ex-wife, writer Latife Tekin, wrote in the message she shared after the news of her death, "I lost my daughter's father, my dear friend, my namesake Latif, I am very sorry."

Hürriyet newspaper, in which he published his cartoons for a long time, shared the news of Demirci's death by saying, "All the lines in which he looks at life and the agenda with clever humor are with us."

Latif Demirci, (b. 31 January 1961, Istanbul, d. 5 June 2022), Turkish cartoonist.

At the beginning of his career, he worked for Gırgır and Fırt magazines. In the 80s, he became famous as the illustrator of Muhlis Bey types, whose jokes were found by Behiç Pek in Tarzan in Fırt and Gırgır. After the closure of Hıbır  and its sequel, HBR Maymun, of which he was one of the founders, he left his humor journalism and started working in newspapers. His drawings are still in Hürriyet newspaper. Mr. Press Bey/Mr. Press, Evli ve cepli/Married and with cell phones are the characters he drew.
