EU Watch | Opposition Goes the Greek Way

Mavi Boncuk | The '6 Table  Turkish Opposition Alliance' (plus the not so invisible HDP), which held its 4th meeting, published a 10-item declaration.

In the text, Turkey was accused of escalating tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean. In the declaration, it was said, “We should stay away from tensions and adventurous rhetoric and policies that will cause the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean to change against us and harm Turkey's multidimensional foreign policy.”

Not a word was said about the US settling in Greek bases right under Turkey's nose, or the standing ovation of Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis in the American Congress, and Athens arming the non-military islands.[1]

[1] Addressing the Congress, Mitsotakis anonymously claimed that Turkey violated Greek airspace and asked the US Congress to consider the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean regarding possible arms sales to Turkey. He also brought this issue to the agenda in detail during his meetings with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, known for his opposition to Turkey, Bob Menendez. The Greek Prime Minister's speech at the Congress received a standing ovation.
