In philately, tête-bêche (French for "head-to-tail", lit. "head-to-head") is a joined pair of stamps in which one is upside-down in relation to the other, produced intentionally or accidentally. Like any pair of stamps, a pair of tête-bêches can be a vertical or a horizontal pair.

  1. Thank you for posting these and for the information. I had not known about "tête-bêche" stamps. I am particularly interested in the use of French in Ottoman times (and its pervasive nativization, as in 'kuaför' or 'avokat') from 17th century through to the 1960s. So I'm very pleased to see "Timbres pour visa" and "Cinq piastres" on the visa stamps.
