Mavi Boncuk | Warnia Zarzecki, Polish artist. (b. Nantes, France 1850-1924)Art studies in Warsaw. Arrived in istanbul in 1883 and started teaching drawing at the newly founded Academy of Fine Arts | Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi at the same period with another Orientalist, Salvator Valéri (1856-1946) , Yervant Osgan (1855-1914) (Istanbul born European trained in sculpture).
Considering that nude studies for painting and sculpture studios at the Academy began in 1917, hiring not so famous, but Western trained instructors for drawing classes was a necessity.
