Due to the massive increase in online piracy, many non US countries are adopting a new policy of Showing episodes more quickly to prevent this.In spite of the illegal downloads, total TV viewing has increased by 5 per cent on last year which means that more people are watching TV, and watching it for longer. Internet piracy via file-sharing networks accounts for the majority of these losses, with about $33m in lost consumer spending. This situation is an obvious result of broadband use and freely available torrents, p2p networks and illegal uploading of tv and movie files, and gives the major studios a major headache.

Something to be amazed | Di vé karé de şaşiyek heye. Let's see if other parliaments allow a speech to be delivered in another language. Even at the Council Of Europe (47 member states in 2008) the two sole “official languages” are English and French. German is only a “working language” along with Italian and Russian. When applying for a job at EU only English and French are obligatory. Germans however want to keep order at the home front. Article 22 of the German constitution already states that the nation's capital shall be Berlin, and the flag shall be black, red and gold, but hitherto has made no reference to the German language. Despite Merkel's reservations, her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) at their recent party conference in Stuttgart overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling on the German parliament to enshrine the German language in the constitution. I guess as a preemptive measure for a speech in Turkish at the the German Bundestag, the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany. (insert a wink here).

Ahmet Turk, who heads the Democratic Society Party, Turkey's largest pro-Kurdish party, has triggered a controversy after he delivered a speech in Kurdish in parliament, by beginning in Turkish and then switching later to Kurdish, causing the parliament live broadcast to go off the air. "Kurds have long been oppressed because they did not know any other language," Turk said. "I promised myself that I would speak in my mother tongue at an official meeting one day."
Turk was speaking to his party's parliamentary group about Unesco's International Mother Language Day[1]. Koksal Toptan, head of the national assembly, found fault with Turk for speaking in Kurdish, but said that he would not be fined for defying the law. "The official language is Turkish,'' he said. "This meeting should have been conducted in Turkish." Under Turkish law, only Turkish can be spoken in political addresses. However Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, spoke a few words of Kurdish at a campaign rally on Saturday.

Ayhan Aydan (b. 1924-d.February 19, 2009, Çeşme, İzmir)
[1] Afther the May 27, 1960 coup President Celal Bayar, prime minister Adnan Menderes and some members of the cabinet were arrested and put on trial before a civilian-military tribunal on the island Yassıada in the Sea of Marmara. This show trial of 600 former government officials and DP functionaries was one of biggest disgraces of Turkish democracy and a shame to legal traditions.
Yassiada trial convicted Menderes and Zorlu to death by hanging for violating the constitution which was actually fully abolished by the leadership of the military coup and a new constitution was adopted.
